Honorable Llamilet Gutierrez
Llamilet Gutierrez is a District Court Judge in Prince George’s County. She was appointed on
January 06, 2023, by former governor Larry Hogan. Prior to joining the bench, Judge Gutierrez
was an Assistant State’s Attorney in Prince George’s County where she was the designated
prosecutor for human trafficking cases. In addition to providing her expertise in sex trafficking
cases, she prosecuted child physical and sexual abuse, sexual assault, and domestic violence
cases as part of the Special Victims and Family Violence Unit. Before becoming a prosecutor,
Judge Gutierrez was the Executive Director of the Amara Legal Center, a non-profit organization
that provides legal services to sex workers and sex trafficking survivors. In that role, Judge
Gutierrez connected survivors with vital social services, provided legal representation, and raised public awareness of the legal issues facing survivors through education and policy advocacy. Judge Gutierrez was also an attorney at the Office of the Public Defender in Prince George’s County where she represented thousands of clients in cases ranging from misdemeanor theft to murder. Judge Gutierrez started her legal career as a Law Clerk to the Hon. Nicholas E. Rattal in the Prince George’s County Circuit Court.
Judge Gutierrez attended Dickinson College on a full-tuition Posse Leadership Scholarship. She
obtained her law degree from Lewis and Clark in Portland, Oregon. Her extracurricular activities
include the Dickinson College Alumni Committee, Maryland Hispanic Bar Association where
she serves as President Elect, the National Association of Women Judges Women Moving
Forward Conference Steering Committee, and a member of both the Diversity and Inclusion and
Self Represented Litigants Subcommittee of the Maryland Judicial Council.
Judge Gutierrez is originally from Los Angeles, California. She is a first-generation American,
daughter of formerly undocumented Mexican and Salvadorian parents, and the first in her family
to go to college. Judge Gutierrez loves spending time with her husband, two daughters, and
rescue dog Shadow.
