Meet the People Behind MHBA

Krystle Acevedo Howard, Esq.

Krystle Acevedo Howard is a dedicated family law attorney admitted to the Maryland Bar in 2014. She holds dual Bachelor of Science degrees in Health Information Management and Health Services Management from East Carolina University (2006) and earned her Juris Doctor from North Carolina Central University School of Law in 2013.


A proud Hispanic of Puerto Rican descent, Krystle is a member of the Maryland Hispanic Bar Association (MHBA), serving on its Board of Directors since 2023 and as Treasurer beginning in 2024. She is also deeply involved with the Women’s Bar Association of Maryland and its Harford County Chapter, currently serving as President.


An active and engaged leader in the Maryland legal community, Krystle has also served in numerous capacities across key bar associations. She is a longstanding member of the Maryland State Bar Association (MSBA), where she currently serves as Co-Chair of Leadership Academy (2024–2026), and Council Member of the Family Law Section (2024). She is a former MSBA Leadership Academy Fellow (2018–2019) and was on the Board of Governors representing the Ninth District, Harford and Cecil County (2022–2024).


Her service to the Harford County Bar Association includes roles as President (2022–2023), Immediate Past President (2023–2025), Treasurer (2019–2021), and committee leadership in sponsorship and event planning. She also served as Secretary of the Harford County Bar Foundation Board of Directors from 2019 to 2022.


Her affiliations also include the Baltimore County Bar Association, the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts, and participation in the Maryland Chapter of the Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers’ Mentee Program (2022–2024). She is a certified Best Interest Attorney.


Krystle is also a Panel Attorney for the Office of the Public Defender, further demonstrating her commitment to ensuring that all individuals—regardless of background or financial means—receive quality legal representation.


Krystle has been recognized for her legal service and leadership with several prestigious honors, including:

She has been featured in publications such as The Daily Record, including the article "Legalized Recreational Cannabis Spells Changes for Custody Cases" (November 2023). She frequently speaks at legal education events, including:

  • MSBA’s Best Interest Attorney Training (April 2024 & 2025)

  • MSBA’s Legal Excellence Week – The Intersection of Cannabis and Custody (November 2023)


In addition to her dedication to the law, Krystle is deeply devoted to her children, Inari and Xavier. She actively supports their education and growth, including serving as a Parent Representative at their school.
