Legislative Affairs

The Legislative Affairs Committee focuses on advocating for the interest of the Hispanic/Latino community in Maryland and MHBA members. It monitors legislative developments, collaborates with lawmakers, and provides input on proposed laws and regulations.

Endorsements

The Endorsements Committee evaluates and recommends candidates for the Maryland judiciary and public office. The Committee’s goal is to endorse highly qualified and diverse individuals who exemplify a strong commitment to the law and the pursuit of justice.

Membership

The Membership Committee is dedicated to growing and maintaining the MHBA's membership base. It develops strategies to attract new members, retains current members, and fosters a sense of community within the association.

Professional Development

The Professional Development Committee organizes programs and events aimed at enhancing the skills and careers of MHBA members. This includes hosting workshops/seminars, and networking opportunities that focus on career advancement, legal education, and mentorship. The committee collaborates with other organizations to provide resources that support the professional growth of MHBA members.

Student Affairs and Mentorship

The Student Affairs and Mentorship Committee fosters and promotes relationships between MHBA members and the law student associations at the two law schools in Maryland in order to play a pivotal role in the professional development of aspiring attorneys. By aiming to bridge the gap between legal education and practice, the Committee offers guidance and support necessary for students to have lasting connections with practitioners in the legal community. The Committee also focuses on providing support and mentorship to college students, law students, and recent law school graduates.

Liaisons - BAMC and HNBA

The HNBA Liaison serves as a communication bridge between MHBA and HNBA. The liason seeks to facilitate collaboration and communication with HNBA to maintain a strong relationship between both organizations.

Community Outreach

The Community Outreach Committee works to strengthen the MHBA's connection with the broader community. It organizes events and initiatives that promote legal education, provide pro bono services, and engage with local organizations. The committee's efforts aim to raise awareness of legal issues affecting the Hispanic/Latino community and to foster relationships that support the values of the MHBA.
