MHBA Now Accepting Nominations for the 33rd Annual Gala Awards


The Maryland Hispanic Bar Association (MHBA) is proud to announce that nominations are now open for the Association’s annual awards, which will be presented at the 33rd Annual MHBA Gala.

Each year, MHBA recognizes outstanding individuals and organizations whose leadership, service, and dedication have made a lasting impact on the legal profession and the Hispanic/Latino community throughout Maryland. These awards celebrate excellence, mentorship, advocacy, and meaningful contributions that advance justice, equity, and public service.


We invite members of the legal community, community leaders, organizations, and the public to submit nominations for the following awards:


Leadership Award

The Leadership Award recognizes an attorney whose distinct and extraordinary accomplishments have made a significant impact in advancing, understanding, or communicating important legal issues during the past five years.

This award honors attorneys who have demonstrated:

  • Exceptional leadership within the legal profession;

  • Outstanding skill, initiative, and dedication beyond their professional responsibilities;

  • A commitment to activities that advance the profession and improve society; and

  • Work of unusual importance or exceptional quality that has created meaningful impact.

Outstanding Achievement Award

The Outstanding Achievement Award recognizes substantial accomplishments in:

  • Advancement of the legal profession;

  • Professional achievement;

  • Education and outreach;

  • Diversity and inclusion efforts; and

  • Mentorship and professional development.

This award honors legal practitioners who:

  • Foster high ethical standards;

  • Increase diversity within the legal workforce;

  • Demonstrate innovation and excellence in serving clients and communities;

  • Engage in impactful pro bono and community service efforts;

  • Improve legal education and public understanding of the law; and

  • Provide exemplary and sustained mentorship that enhances the education and careers of others.

Public Service Award

The Public Service Award recognizes attorneys and non-lawyers who have made unusual and significant contributions to the Hispanic/Latino community, the State of Maryland, and the communities in which they live and work.

This award honors:

  • Community organizations;

  • Businesses;

  • Civic leaders; and

  • Private citizens who demonstrate excellence in public service, encourage civic engagement, and go beyond their day-to-day responsibilities to improve the lives of others and strengthen their communities.

Nomination Deadline – July 15


All award nominations must be submitted by July 15, 2026. MHBA encourages the community to help recognize the remarkable individuals and organizations making a difference across Maryland.


Award recipients will be recognized during the 33rd Annual MHBA Gala alongside leaders from the bench, bar, and broader community.
