The Maryland Hispanic Bar Association (MHBA) proudly celebrates the outstanding achievements of several board members recently recognized by The Daily Record for their contributions to the legal profession.

We are so proud of our member and one of our founders the Hon. Marielsa Bernard who participated in the Judiciary’s Reading and Robes, a wonderful program that exposes children to judges and gives them an opportunity to see themselves in the people who make decisions in courtrooms at every level throughout the state of Maryland.

The protests of the last several weeks have coalesced into a truth that cannot be ignored: people of color are being denied their rightful equality. Frustration and grief have poured out in response to the recent events that so horribly have illuminated injustices against people of color; injustices, sadly, that are not new. These events represent the extremes of the all-too-common conscious—and unconscious—disrespect and disregard for the dignity of people of color.

The Maryland Hispanic Bar Association is proud to congratulate Judge Audrey J.S. Carrión on her appointment to the position of Administrative Judge of the Circuit Court for Baltimore City. This position comes with tremendous responsibilities, including supervising the judges, officials, and employees of the court; managing the court’s budget and procurement; and ensuring the efficient and fair resolution of the court’s busy litigation docket.
